National Sorry Day

National Sorry Day is a way that the community can know that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children were taken from their families for 150 years .The first National Sorry Day was held on 26 May 1998 after the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission report, Bringing Them Home: The ‘Stolen Children’ report (1997) which asked that a national day happen every year to remember and be sorry for what happened to Aboriginal people.
